<Research>BOCI Upgrades CN Telecoms to Overweight on Clearer Earnings Visibility

According to a report from BOCI, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the monthly report for October 2024 on November 27, which showed a stable YoY growth of 2.1% in total telecom service revenue for October, with emerging business growing by 4.2% YoY. The broker upgraded the telecom service sector from Neutral to Overweight, even though the P/E bases of all major telecom companies were still at +1 Std Deviation. The reason was that the predictability of telecom companies' earnings growth and stable dividend yields remains ideal in the current market conditions, while policy efforts to reduce local government debt will help reignite cloud/ AI infrastructure spending and validate telecom companies' leadership in the growing Chinese AI infrastructure market.
