The Nikkei has compiled the global car sales for 3Q24 according to data released by automakers and research firm MarkLines. The results showed that BYD COMPANY (01211.HK)'s sales grew by 38% to 1.13 million vehicles, making it the world's sixth best-selling automaker and marking the first time it has surpassed one of the top three US automakers, Ford (F.US). During the period, Zhejiang Geely's sales increased by 14% to 820,000 vehicles, elevating the company from 11th place last year to 9th place and marking the first time two Chinese car companies have entered the global top ten.
